I Was So Planned
For my senior project at Purchase College, I wrote, illustrated, and fabricated a book titled "I Was So Planned" about my life—a life so meticulously planned, yet so wonderfully unexpected. The book focuses on the importance of healing childhood trauma and being kind to oneself. It not only tells my story but also serves as a guide for others seeking to navigate their own paths to healing and self-compassion. In the initial spreads included, you can see the meticulous attention to detail that went into creating a cohesive narrative, even amidst the inherent chaos of personal storytelling. Each page is thoughtfully designed to convey the emotional depth and complexity of my experiences. My unique style, characterized by digital cut paper, adds a distinctive visual layer to the book. This technique allows me to juxtapose different textures and elements, symbolizing the fragmented yet interconnected pieces of our lives. Additionally, through this project, I have honed my typography-illustration integration skills, seamlessly blending text and visuals to enhance the overall storytelling experience. The result is a visually engaging and emotionally resonant representation of my journey, encouraging readers to reflect on their own stories and the power of self-kindness. More samples are available upon request, showcasing the diverse and intricate spreads that make up the entirety of this heartfelt project. I am considering publishing this book, which is why the entire manuscript isn't posted here. By sharing just a few initial spreads, I can provide a glimpse into the project's depth and design while preserving the complete work for potential publication. This approach allows me to maintain the integrity of the book's message and presentation, ensuring it reaches a wider audience in its full, intended form.
